Nexus MedPro Staffing Inc. seeks an experienced Stepdown Registered Nurse for a 13-week travel assignment in Mount Airy, NC. You will work nights on a 3×12-hour schedule (6:45 PM–7:15 AM), 36 hours weekly, with every-other weekend shifts and no on-call requirements.

Unit is a 12-bed Intermediate Critical Care/Stepdown with cardiac monitoring in every room and a 1:4 patient ratio. Travel nurses are welcome if clinical requirements are met.

Qualifications

• Minimum 2 years of RN Stepdown/Progressive Care or similar acute care.
• Active NC RN license or eligible compact license.
• ACLS, BLS, NIHSS, Stroke Life Support current.
• Experience with cardiac telemetry, MS/Tele, Neuro Stepdown.
• Meditech charting experience required.

Responsibilities

• Provide specialized care for adult stepdown patients with complex needs.
• Interpret cardiac rhythms and manage IV medications and drips.
• Respond to patient condition changes and escalate appropriately.
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to optimize care.
• Float between Stepdown and ICU as required.

Travel Stepdown Registered Nurse – Mount Airy, NC | Up to $2,193/Week | Nights

Nexus MedPro Staffing is seeking an experienced Stepdown / Progressive Care Registered Nurse for a 13-week travel nursing assignment at a reputable healthcare facility in Mount Airy, North Carolina.

Position Overview

The Stepdown Registered Nurse provides specialized nursing care to adult patients who require closer monitoring and treatment than a traditional Medical‑Surgical unit but do not require full intensive care services.

This position requires strong experience in cardiac telemetry, progressive care, neurological stepdown, and the management of patients with complex medical conditions.

The ideal candidate is comfortable interpreting cardiac rhythms, managing IV medications and cardiac drips, responding to changes in patient conditions, and collaborating with interdisciplinary teams.

Assignment Details

• Location: Mount Airy, NC.
• Weekly Pay: Up to $2,193.
• Start Date: November 16, 2026.
• Duration: 13 weeks.
• Schedule: Nights, 3×12-hour shifts (6:45 PM–7:15 AM).
• Hours: 36 hours per week.
• Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend, approximately 12 weekend shifts per contract.
• Floating: Required between Stepdown and ICU based on census and staffing needs.
• On-Call: None.
• Setting: Acute Care Hospital – Intermediate Critical Care / Stepdown.

Required Qualifications

• Minimum 2 years of RN experience in Stepdown, Progressive Care, Intermediate Care, or comparable acute care settings.
• Active North Carolina RN license or eligible compact RN license.
• Current ACLS, BLS, NIHSS, and Stroke Life Support certifications
• Experience with cardiac telemetry, MS/Tele, Neuro Stepdown, or Progressive Care.
• Meditech charting experience required.
• Ability to manage patient assignments with a target ratio of 1:4.
• Proficiency in cardiac rhythm interpretation and dysrhythmia management.
• Experience with cardiac drips, heparin protocols, and IV insulin protocols.
• Experience managing central lines, PICC lines, peripheral IVs, and implanted ports.
• Knowledge of respiratory support, including BiPAP/CPAP, high-flow nasal cannula, and ABG interpretation.
• Experience caring for patients with strokes and other neurological conditions.
• Ability to respond to emergencies and collaborate with rapid response teams.
• Willingness to float between Stepdown and ICU as required.
• First-time travel nurses may be considered if they meet all clinical requirements.

Preferred Qualifications

• Previous travel nursing experience.
• Charge nurse experience.
• Teaching hospital or community hospital experience
