Job summary

Mayo Clinic is seeking a registered nurse in Phoenix, AZ, to coordinate nursing care, educate patients and families, and manage transitions of care. The role supports nursing practice across settings within the Mayo Clinic Nursing Professional Practice Model.

Qualifications

• Graduate of a baccalaureate nursing program recognized by ACEN/CCNE/NLN CNEA; if not accredited, at least one year RN or one year LPN experience at Mayo Clinic.
• All entry-level associate degree RNs with RN start date on/after Apr 1, 2020 must show evidence of baccalaureate degree within five years of start date.
• All entry-level associate degree RNs with RN start date before Apr 1, 2020 must provide evidence of baccalaureate degree as per hire time.
• One year of recent acute care RN experience is required.
• Recent ambulatory-care experience preferred.
• Chemotherapy preferred, but required after 1 year employment in the AIC.
• Excellent communication skills (verbal and written).
• Experience working in a team environment.
• Computer skills required; prior EMR experience preferred.
• Ability to work flexible hours (days/evenings/nights/holidays/weekends/on-call).
• Ability to adapt to unpredictable situations.
• Demonstrated leadership, effective communicator, and excellent critical thinking skills.
• Current RN license by applicable state requirements.
• BLS (Basic Life Support) must be valid for 90 days post start date.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate nursing care, including direct patient care, patient/family education and transitions of care.
• Support professional nursing practice across settings and continuum of care.
• Provide leadership through preceptor roles and quality improvement activities.
• Delegate patient care according to skill level, patient acuity, resources and availability.
• Potentially drive personal vehicle as part of role.
