Job summary

Brown University Health’s Med Surg unit in Newport, RI seeks a registered nurse to apply the nursing process, advocate for patients, and deliver age-appropriate, evidence-based care under the supervision of the Nurse Manager.

You will document nursing interventions and patient responses, support daily living activities, involve patients and families in care planning, and coordinate with LPNs and CNAs to maintain safety and quality in accordance with Rhode Island Nurse Practice Act.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited school of nursing.
• Current BLS Certification (American Heart Association).
• Knowledge of Rhode Island Nurse Practice Act.
• Ability to provide care to patients across the life span with cultural sensitivity.

Responsibilities

• Recognizes and reports deviations from patient or established norms.
• Documents nursing interventions and patient responses.
• Provides basic comfort and support according to patient needs.
• Fosters patient and family participation in care planning and activities of daily living.
• Sets priorities in patient assignments and seeks guidance when necessary.
