Job summary

EvergreenHealth in Kirkland, WA, seeks a dedicated PACU nurse to provide direct and indirect nursing care for post-anesthesia patients in accordance with standards and policies. The role requires Washington RN licensure and recent experience in a monitored care area such as PACU, ICU, ED, or telemetry.

Qualifications

• Must hold RN license in WA state.
• Minimum 1 year experience in PACU/ICU/ED/ telemetry in last 3 years.
• Current AHA BLS certification by hire date.

Responsibilities

• Provides direct patient care and acts as patient advocate.
• Assesses nursing needs of patients in PACU.
• Coordinates patient and family education.
• Plans and evaluates patient care with the care team.
• Collaborates with physicians and interdisciplinary team on care plan.
• Communicates patient information and safety issues to supervisor.
• Notes changes in patient condition and informs charge nurse/physician.

Wage Range: $48.21 - $87.11 per hour

Job Summary:

Responsible for the direct and indirect total nursing care of all patients within the Post-Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU) within established standards of care, hospital and unit policies, procedures, and guidelines.

Primary Duties:

1. Provides direct patient care and functions as a patient advocate.
2. Assesses the comprehensive nursing needs of an assigned group of patients.
3. Coordinates the patient and family/significant other education process.
4. Continuously plans, implements, and evaluates patient care, incorporating patient and family/significant other into the process.
5. Participates with physician partners and other interdisciplinary team members to develop and implement patient and family/significant other plan of care.
6. Communicates effectively all relevant information (e.g., patient information, safety issues, problems with equipment, quality issues, etc.) to immediate supervisor, in timely way.
7. Communicates and documents changes in patient condition, on a timely basis, to charge nurse/supervisor and physician.
8. Performs other duties as assigned.

License, Certification, Education or Experience:

REQUIRED for the position:

• Licensed as a Registered Nurse in the State of Washington
• Minimum of one year experience within the last 3 years of care delivery in a monitored care area: PACU, ICU, ED or telemetry
• Current American Heart Association Healthcare Provider BLS certification by date of hire
• Current American Heart Association ACLS by date of hire
• Completion of unit competencies for peri-anesthesia care within probationary period or first 2 months if an employee transfer
• Night and Weekend call assignments as per PACU Call Policy
• Proficiency in airway management/adjuncts
• Proficiency with IV skills and techniques
• Ability to identify EKG rhythms and related necessary interventions
• Understanding of Pain Management and related-pharmacology
• Understanding of Cardiac and emergency medication pharmacology
• PALS or ENPC within 6 months of hire

DESIRED for the position:

• CPAN, CAPA, CCRN and/or CEN certifications
• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Nursing
