Description:PACU experience is necessary.General comments: Day Surgery unit has 6 pre‑op bays.The unit typically has 3‑4 staff members per day.Day shift RNs and 1 patient care technician are present.Night shift RNs are on on‑call only.Patient ratios are approximately 2:1 in Day Surgery.The unit handles 20-40 cases per day, depending on the day of the week.The equipment used includes EMR Meditech.There is an on‑call requirement to cover PACU calls with 2 weekend 24‑hour shifts and 3‑4 weeknight shifts per 6‑week schedule.Floating to PACU may be required when needed.Most recruited candidates include travel RNs, local certified nursing assistants, and sitters.Candidates without PACU experience will not be considered for the role.Typical procedures performed on the unit include endoscopy, orthopedic, general, gynecological, pain management, ENT, and pediatric dental.A flexible and adaptable personality is preferred.Candidates should possess excellent bedside manner.This assignment involves working primarily as a Day Surgery (Pre‑Op) RN.The work schedule is Tuesday through Friday.Due to the small size of the facility, Day Surgery and PACU tag team call coverage is shared.Two nurses are on call at all times, ensuring no one is alone while on call.On‑call nurses may be a mix of PACU and Day Surgery.The team is strong and supportive of one another.The close‑knit surgery department operates more like a surgery center than a hospital, allowing for the possibility of leaving early on some days.
