Description:The Registered Nurse (RN) is a licensed professional who coordinates patient care delivery by the health care team.Using the nursing process, the RN assesses the patient, identifies nursing diagnoses based on responses to health problems, develops and implements an individualized plan of care, and evaluates the patient's response.The RN promotes safe passage for patients by using knowledge of patient needs and the healthcare environment to assist patients in transitioning through healthcare encounters without preventable complications or delays.The RN delegates interventions to health care personnel based on the Nursing Practice Act, each patient's condition, and the competencies of the employee.This RN job is designed for RNs in hospital inpatient and outpatient departments with 24X7 staffing.Examples include hospital inpatient and outpatient procedural areas.

The RN demonstrates the following essential functions:Using clinical reasoning, conducts accurate clinical assessments according to practice standards.Identifies and prioritizes patient and family needs.Develops, implements, and evaluates the nursing plan of care.Modifies plans to meet clinical outcomes.Systematically evaluates the quality and effectiveness of nursing practice.Supports evidence-based practice changes through research utilization.Creates a compassionate, supportive, safe, and therapeutic environment for patients and families.Develops therapeutic relationships with patients and families while maintaining appropriate boundaries.Manages both emotional and physical pain to promote comfort and healing.Recognizes, appreciates, and incorporates unique differences such as culture and spiritual beliefs into an individualized plan of care.Preserves and protects patient autonomy and rights.Creates an individualized plan that accurately reflects patient and family values and goals.Facilitates learning for patients, families, and nursing staff throughout the continuum of care.Works collaboratively with colleagues to develop and implement an integrated plan of care.Uses strategies and available resources for problem-solving for patients and staff.Implements nursing practice standards and hospital policies.Demonstrates effective communication skills, both verbally and in writing.Exhibits critical thinking and problem-solving abilities.Observes changes in patients' medical conditions and communicates these changes effectively.Provides age-specific, patient-centered care to all patients.Engages in ongoing professional growth and contributes to the professional development of peers.
