Job summary

Mercy St. Louis is hiring a PACU RN to provide critical post-anesthesia care in a Phase I recovery unit. The role requires strong critical care skills and collaboration with anesthesia teams to ensure safe patient transitions after surgery.

The position is full-time, with 3 x 12-hour shifts per week, and includes benefits starting day one. BLS certification and an active RN license are required, with ICU/ED/PACU experience preferred.

Qualifications

• Graduate from an accredited RN program and active RN license.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct patient care in the Post-Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU).
• Collaborate with anesthesia and surgical teams to transition patients safely from surgery to recovery.
• Monitor vitals, manage airway, and respond to post-anesthesia complications as needed.
• Participate in weekend/holiday call as required and contribute to a self-covered team environment.

Position Details: Registered Nurse at Mercy Hospital St. Louis PACU. Now Hiring - Full time. 1100-2330 3 x 12 hours shifts per week.

PACU RN | Mercy St. Louis

The PACU at Mercy St. Louis is a Phase I recovery unit caring for patients after surgery or procedures requiring general anesthesia. Nurses work closely with the anesthesia team and care for patients ranging from routine post-op recoveries to critically ill ICU-level patients.

Strong critical care skills are essential, including experience with ventilators, airway management, vasoactive drips, chest tubes, drains, central lines, and arterial lines. The unit supports a variety of surgical specialties, including ENT, General Surgery, GU, GYN, Bariatrics, and Pediatrics.

PACU nurses care for both adult and pediatric patients, participate in weekend and holiday call, and work in a highly collaborative, self-covered team environment. ICU, ED, Critical Care, or PACU experience is strongly preferred.
