Job summary

Creative Solutions Services, LLC seeks an experienced RN to join the PACU team in Green Bay, WI for a 13-week contract.

The RN PACU will cover Phase I/II recovery, monitor post-cath and IR patients, interpret rhythms, manage gtts, and provide discharge instructions. Evening shift, 8 hours, on-site with paid weekly stipends and base pay.

Qualifications

  • RN with PACU experience and ability to monitor cardiac rhythms.
  • Certification: BLS, ACLS, PALS; CAPA or CPAN preferred.
  • Capable of discharging patients and providing post-op instructions.

Responsibilities

  • Care for Phase I/II PACU patients, including post-cath and IR.
  • Read/interpret rhythms, manage vasopressor/gtt infusions.
  • Provide patient discharge instructions and education.

  • Level III NICU
  • Level III Maternity Center
  • Primary Stroke Center
  • Beds: 167

Unit Information:

  • Beds:
  • Main PACU: 33 pre/post rooms, 10 Phase I PACU bays
  • East PACU: 33 pre/post rooms, 17 Phase I PACU bays
  • Main and East are in the same building. Main is on 2nd floor; East is on the 1st floor. Will get daily staffing sheet to know which PACU to report to
  • Census: Average patients/day: 60-80 patients per day combined through East/Main

Minimum Years of Experience required: 2 years Phase I/Phase II

  • Will you accept a first-time traveler: Will consider if extensive PACU experience
  • Inpatient, outpatient, observations. Peds and adults.
  • General, plastics, urology, GI, bariatrics, GYN, minor vascular, neurosurgery (spine, cranies), Robotics cases, ophthalmology, ortho, cardiothoracic (thoracotomies/pericardial windows, no open hearts), ENT (sinus, PE tubes, T/As), endovascular, fistulas, bronchs, post-cath, post-IR/Neuro IR
  • Vented/ICU level patients typically go to ICU post-OR, but could occasionally have intubated patient or assist with intubation in PACU
  • Pre-op: 1:3
  • Phase I: 1:2
  • Phase II: 1:3

Required License, National Certification, Certs:

  • RN: BLS, ACLS, PALS; CAPA or CPAN certification required (will take either)
  • CNA: BLS

Skills required:

  • RN: Experience in PACU with above patient types, read/interpret cardiac rhythms, manage cardiac gtts, providing discharge instructions (will work Phase I and Phase II recovery).
  • Experience recovering post-cath, bronchs, IR patients HIGHLY preferred; send for manager approval if minimal or no experience.
  • CNA: Experience with blood sugar checks, IV removals, clipping and scrubbing surgical sites, cleaning, restocking
  • It is everyone s responsibility to help everyone out. Nothing is just a CNA or LPN duty

Support within the Department:

  • Charge RN
  • Management
  • CNA/LPN for department to float around and help out (mostly in pre-op and Phase II)
  • Bedside and Nursing Station Tele, no Tele Tech
  • Hospitalist 24/7
  • RT 24/7
  • Anesthesiologists/CRNAs
  • Surgeons

Technology/Equipment:

  • EMR: EPIC – required for RNs
  • IV Pump: Alaris
  • Med dispensing: Pyxis

Floating: If yes, where:

  • Travelers will float regularly between Phase I and Phase II Recovery for Main 6 PACU and East PACU

Orientation (facility and unit):

  • NEO
  • 2 8h shifts in the department

Scheduling:

  • Not allowed to pick up call or weekends
  • Approval of RTO: No more than 4 days of RTO will be approved.
  • Shift times: Refer to requisitions
  • Schedule cycle: Set schedule, Monday – Friday, hours dependent on requisition
