Job summary

MaineGeneral Health seeks an experienced RN to serve as a Professional Development Practitioner, supporting education, professional development, and competency across outpatient practices. The role emphasizes orientation, ongoing training, and collaboration with PSRs, Medical Assistants, RNs, and staff to ensure safe, high-quality care.

The position is based at the Thayer Center for Health in Waterville, with full-time days.

Qualifications

• Strong communication, interpersonal, organizational, and presentation skills.
• Experience with staff education, competency assessment, or skills training preferred.
• Current Registered Nurse licensure in the State of Maine or ability to obtain promptly.
• Experience working in an outpatient/ambulatory care environment strongly preferred.
• Educational or staff development experience preferred.
• Knowledge of regulatory and accreditation requirements preferred.

Responsibilities

• Collaborates with entire inter-disciplinary team to assess the learning needs and competencies of staff.
• Designs, delivers, and assesses learning activities and curriculums related to clinical competencies, departmental/organizational policies, regulatory requirements, and the use of clinical information technologies.
• Creates a supportive environment for nursing research, scientific inquiry, quality improvement and evidence based practice.
• Participates in the development, coordination, and delivery of new staff orientation and education activities. Serves as a consultant/mentor for staff in areas of program development, clinical practice, and professional development.
