Job Summary:

The Registered Nurse in the Ortho and North Surgical unit is responsible for providing skilled nursing care to orthopedic and surgical patients during the night shift. This role includes patient assessment, medication administration, treatment planning, and collaborating with the interdisciplinary team. The nurse will also float to other medical-surgical departments as needed and is expected to meet certification requirements relevant to various hospital units. Strong communication skills and at least two years of nursing experience are essential.

Responsibilities: Required Skills & Certifications:

• Active Registered Nurse license in the state of Illinois.
• Minimum of 2 years nursing experience in hospital, home health, or hospice care.
• Certifications: BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS as required by specific hospital units.
• Strong clinical assessment, medication administration, and treatment planning skills.
• Ability to collaborate effectively within interdisciplinary teams.

Preferred Skills & Certifications:

• Experience in orthopedic, medical-surgical, or critical care nursing.
• Certification in CSU-ALS preferred for ICU assignments.
• Prior experience floating across multiple units.

Special Considerations:

• Night shift work from 1900 to 0730.
• Every other weekend work and possibility of floating to other med-surg departments.
• Compliance with unit-specific certification requirements depending on assignment (NIHSS, BLS, ACLS, CSU-ALS).
• Floating only within clinician's scope of practice, licensure, and competencies.

Scheduling:

• Night shift schedule: 1900 to 0730.
• Work includes every other weekend coverage.
• Floating assignments determined based on clinical needs and nurse competencies.
