Job summary

Carilion Clinic in Roanoke, VA is seeking an RN Team Lead for the Operating Room on Weekday Nights. You will provide clinical leadership, mentor staff, and coordinate perioperative care across ages.

The role requires a Virginia RN license, BLS-HCP, and at least 1 year of clinical and leadership experience; ACLS/PALS/NRP may be required by area. The position includes collaboration with multidisciplinary teams and opportunities for professional growth.

Qualifications

• Graduate of a State Board of Nursing approved program.
• Minimum of 1 year of clinical experience including leadership.
• Current RN license in Virginia required.
• BLS-HCP required; ACLS/PALS/NRP may be required depending on area.
• Demonstrated leadership and strong communication skills; team collaboration.

Responsibilities

• Serve as a team leader, clinical resource, mentor, and role model for staff.
• Provide direct patient care and coordinate care delivery for patients of all ages.
• Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate patient care to achieve optimal outcomes.
• Lead and mobilize the care team to support positive patient outcomes.
• Facilitate effective communication and resolve operational issues within the work group.
• Support staff development through coaching, mentoring, and performance feedback.
• Participate in staffing, scheduling, and workload distribution to ensure adequate coverage.
• Collaborate with leadership on fiscal management, resource allocation, and budget considerations.
• Participate in performance improvement, patient satisfaction, and quality initiatives.
• Conduct team meetings and promote a positive, accountable work environment.
• Ensure compliance with regulatory, licensure, and accreditation standards.
• Communicate effectively with patients, families, staff, and interdisciplinary teams.
• Maintain confidentiality and exercise sound judgment in handling sensitive information.
• Support organizational initiatives and adapt to changing priorities.
• Respond to staffing needs, including supporting other Carilion facilities as required.
