Job summary

AdventHealth is seeking a registered nurse in Georgia to join our Surgical Services team. You will collect patient data, analyze findings with the care team, and develop individualized plans of care. The role emphasizes patient education, safe perioperative preparation, and precise handoffs.

Qualified candidates have an Associate degree in Nursing and an active RN license; BSN is preferred. A day shift full-time schedule is offered with comprehensive benefits and a $10,000 sign-on for eligible

Qualifications

  • RN license required and current
  • Associate degree in Nursing required; BSN preferred
  • 1+ years med-surgical or surgical experience preferred

Responsibilities

  • Collects patient health data systematically and documents relevant information.
  • Analyzes assessment data to determine diagnoses with the patient, family, and healthcare providers.
  • Identifies and formulates expected outcomes based on diagnoses, ensuring they are realistic and culturally appropriate.
  • Communicates effectively with patients, families, physicians, and staff, maintaining professional relationships.
  • Educates patients on procedures, answers questions, and ensures patient safety throughout care.
  • Assists with patient preparation for surgery, including starting IVs and reporting critical values.
  • Ensures accurate handoff to/from surgery and confirms consent per policy.
  • Develops individualized plans of care in collaboration with patient and providers.
  • Implements interventions from the plan safely and timely, documenting actions.
  • Evaluates patient progress and revises diagnoses/outcomes as needed.
  • Administers medications accurately and in line with policy.
  • Demonstrates competent technical skills and operation of equipment in Surgical Services.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Job Description:

  • Collects patient health data systematically and documents relevant information.

  • Analyzes assessment data to determine and validate diagnoses with the patient, family, and healthcare providers.

  • Identifies and formulates expected outcomes based on diagnoses, ensuring they are realistic, attainable, and culturally appropriate.

  • Communicates effectively with patients, families, physicians, and staff, maintaining professional relationships and promoting a positive environment.

  • Educates patients on procedures, answers related questions, and ensures patient safety throughout care.

  • Assists with patient preparation for surgery, including starting IVs, documenting pertinent information, and reporting critical values.

  • Ensures accurate and complete handoff to/from surgery, including verifying consent and compliance with hospital policy.

  • Develops individualized plans of care in collaboration with the patient, family, and healthcare providers, ensuring continuity and documentation.

  • Implements interventions from the plan of care safely, timely, and appropriately, documenting actions taken.

  • Evaluates patient progress towards outcomes systematically, revising diagnoses, outcomes, and plans of care as needed.

  • Administers medications accurately and in compliance with policy.

  • Demonstrates competent technical skills and operational knowledge of all equipment used in the Surgical Services department.

  • Other duties as assigned.

Minimum Pay:

$35 / hour

Sign on Bonus:

$10,000 for eligible candidates

Education:
  • Associate's of Nursing [Required]

  • Bachelor's of Nursing [Preferred]

Work Experience:
  • 1+ years experience Med-Surgical, Surgical, or endoscopy nursing [Preferred]

Licenses and Certifications:
  • Registered Nurse (RN) [Required]

  • Basic Life Support - CPR Cert (BLS) [Required]

  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support Cert (ACLS)[Preferred]

  • Pediatric Advanced Life Support Cert (PALS)[Preferred]

  • Certified Post-Anesthesia Nurse (CPAN) [Preferred]

  • Certified Nurse Operating Room (CNOR) [Preferred]

  • Acute/Critical Care Nursing - Adult (CCRN) [Preferred]
