Job summary

AdventHealth in Calhoun, Georgia, is seeking an experienced RN to join the Surgical Services team. The role focuses on collecting patient data, analyzing information with the care team, and developing individualized plans of care.

Responsibilities include educating patients, preparing for procedures, administering medications, and ensuring safe handoffs to surgery while maintaining policy compliance. A valid RN license and BLS are required, with ACLS/PALS and CNOR preferred.

Qualifications

• RN license required with current state registration.
• 1+ years Med-Surgical, Surgical, or endoscopy nursing preferred.
• BLS required; ACLS, PALS, CNOR preferred.

Responsibilities

• Collects patient health data and documents relevant information.
• Analyzes assessment data to support diagnoses with the care team.
• Educates patients and prepares for procedures including IV starts.
• Administers medications and ensures patient safety.
• Handoff to/from surgery and ensures policy compliance.
• Develops and implements individualized plans of care with the team.

Job Description

Collects patient health data systematically and documents relevant information. Analyzes assessment data to determine and validate diagnoses with the patient, family, and healthcare providers. Identifies and formulates expected outcomes based on diagnoses, ensuring they are realistic, attainable, and culturally appropriate. Communicates effectively with patients, families, physicians, and staff, maintaining professional relationships and promoting a positive environment. Educates patients on procedures, answers related questions, and ensures patient safety throughout care. Assists with patient preparation for surgery, including starting IVs, documenting pertinent information, and reporting critical values. Ensures accurate and complete handoff to/from surgery, including verifying consent and compliance with hospital policy. Develops individualized plans of care in collaboration with the patient, family, and healthcare providers, ensuring continuity and documentation. Implements interventions from the plan of care safely, timely, and appropriately, documenting actions taken. Evaluates patient progress towards outcomes systematically, revising diagnoses, outcomes, and plans of care as needed. Administers medications accurately and in compliance with policy. Demonstrates competent technical skills and operational knowledge of all equipment used in the Surgical Services department. Other duties as assigned.
