Description:The RN Clinical Periop Nurse is a proactive member of an interdisciplinary team of caregivers.They ensure that patients and significant others receive individualized, high-quality, safe patient care.The practice environment is administered by Nurse Managers and is supported through a shared governance model.The framework for practice is guided by a Professional Practice Model and evidence-based practice.RN competencies are derived from these models and supported by core competencies.It is expected that all RN Clinical Nurses are licensed, knowledgeable, and uphold the practice of nursing.They implement the Scope of Practice and Code of Ethics Standards.As a member of the patient services team, the individual upholds the voice of the patient and system policies.They support service excellence goals.

Core Responsibilities and Essential Functions:Performs the Nursing Process, including assessment, diagnosis, planning, implementation, and evaluation of clinical care.Uses analytical and critical thinking to ensure that care is individualized.Coordinates care through effective partnerships and recognizes that caring is central to achieving optimal patient outcomes.Provides relationship-based patient-centered care that adapts service delivery to reflect an understanding of cultural diversity.Partners with the patient and significant others using appropriate methods for setting and purpose.Practices using current clinical practice standards.

Teamwork and Collaboration:Coordinates the delivery and documentation of safe quality patient care.Demonstrates teamwork and collaboration by promoting the recruitment and retention of healthcare team members.Participates and supports performance improvement inclusive of all stakeholders.Initiates and leads activities that promote safe, quality patient care and shared governance.

Professional Development and Initiative:Completes all initial and ongoing professional competency assessments and mandatory education.Serves as a preceptor or mentor for other professional nurses and staff.Models the professional practice of nursing and creates a healthy work environment.

Evidence-Based Practice and Research:Promotes evidence-based practice and nursing research.Participates in value analysis as part of the decision-making process in evaluating patient care products.Upholds all organizational policies and procedures.Participates in data collection and uses appropriate resources to address practice questions.

Resources and Support:Proactively plans for the care of patients across the care continuum.Participates in the development of protocols and procedures to achieve best practice outcomes.Supports efficient and effective use of human and material resources.Performs other duties as assigned.Complies with all policies, standards of work, and codes of conduct.
