Job summary

LCMC Health is seeking a surgical nurse to join the operating room team, acting as the information bridge between patient, surgeon, and anesthesia. The role emphasizes teamwork, communication, and delivering exceptional patient care in a fast-paced environment.

Minimum qualifications include an active Louisiana nursing license and BLS; operating room experience is preferred. This is a days shift opportunity with a focus on safety and compassionate care.

Qualifications

• Current nursing license to practice in Louisiana (LSBN).
• Current American Heart Association BLS certification.

Responsibilities

• Prepare patients for surgery and review history, providing care and support including supplies, medicine administration, positioning, vitals, and assessments.
• Perform post-operative assessments and clinical documentation.
• Monitor patients post-surgery for pain, complications, or infection per infection-control standards.
• Initiate CPR or other emergency measures when required.
• Collaborate to meet overall patient care needs and ensure safe, efficient care and communication.

Your Everyday

Prepare your patient for surgery, review patient history, and provide patient care and support including supplies needed, medicine administration, patient positioning, vital signs monitoring, and health assessments.

Perform required clinical documentation and post-operative assessments.

Monitor your patient after surgery for pain and/or complications and the surgery site for healing or infection following Joint Commission infection control and environment of care requirements.

Performs CPR or other emergency measures if required.

Collaborate to identify and meet the overall needs of patient care or when unable to complete assignments or perform tasks promptly, effectively, or safely.

Maintain and advocate a safe environment for everyone.

Ensure continuity of care, efficient throughput, consistent communications, and an exceptional experience for every patient.

Initiate patient and family education on the operation and post-operation care as required.

The Must-Haves

Minimum:

Current nursing license to practice in Louisiana and as defined by the Louisiana State Board of Nursing.

Current American Heart Association BLS certification.

Preferred

Operating room experience
