Job summary

LCMC Health is recruiting a surgical nurse to join our operating room team in Louisiana. You will support patient care before, during, and after surgery, collaborating closely with surgeons and anesthesiologists to ensure safety and excellence in care.

The role emphasizes teamwork, precise communication, and compassionate patient interaction in a high-stakes environment. Nights shift duties and a sign-on bonus up to $15,000 are offered.

Qualifications

  • Current Louisiana nursing license (RN) in good standing.
  • American Heart Association BLS certification.
  • Operating room experience desired.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare patients for surgery, review history, and provide patient care including supplies, medication administration, positioning, vitals, and assessments.
  • Perform post-operative documentation and assessments.
  • Monitor patients post-surgery for pain, complications, infection risk, and wound healing.
  • Collaborate with surgeon and anesthesiologist to ensure continuity of care and safe operations.
  • Maintain a safe environment and effective communication for exceptional patient experience.
  • Educate patients and families on operation and post-operative care as required.

Your Everyday
  • Prepare your patient for surgery, review patient history, and provide patient care and support including supplies needed, medicine administration, patient positioning, vital signs monitoring, and health assessments.
  • Perform required clinical documentation and post-operative assessments.
  • Monitor your patient after surgery for pain and/or complications and the surgery site for healing or infection following Joint Commission infection control and environment of care requirements.
  • Performs CPR Or Other Emergency Measures If Required.
  • Collaborate to identify and meet the overall needs of patient care or when unable to complete assignments or perform tasks promptly, effectively, or safely.
  • Maintain and advocate a safe environment for everyone.
  • Ensure continuity of care, efficient throughput, consistent communications, and an exceptional experience for every patient.
  • Initiate patient and family education on the operation and post-operation care as required.
The Must-Haves
  • Current nursing license to practice in Louisiana and as defined by the Louisiana State Board of Nursing.
  • Current American Heart Association BLS certification.
  • Operating room experience
