Job summary

Nebraska Medicine is a leading American College of Surgeons Level One trauma center with 30 operating rooms and high-volume transplant and complex surgical services. This OR RN role demands ADN/ Diploma, RN licensure, and certifications such as BLS, with PALS/ACLS/TNCC/ATCN as department dependent requirements.

Expect 4‑10 hour shifts with on‑call responsibilities. The team collaborates across specialties to deliver holistic care in a fast‑paced, technologically equipped environment.

Qualifications

  • ADN or Nursing Diploma required.
  • Effective communication skills required.
  • Initiative, teamwork and flexibility.
  • Licensed as RN in Nebraska or compact state.
  • BLS certification from an AHA program.
  • PALS certification (dept dependent).
  • ACLS certification within 6 months (dept dependent).
  • TNCC or ATCN within one year (dept dependent).

Operating Room RN

Nebraska Medicine is an American College of Surgeons Level One trauma center with 30 operating rooms caring for 60‑80 cases per day. Teams perform heart, lung, liver, kidney, small bowel and pancreas transplants and other groundbreaking procedures.

Shift Details
  • 4‑10 hour shift
  • On‑call required
Responsibilities
  • Provide, prescribe, delegate, and coordinate nursing care with other health care providers to meet holistic care needs of a designated group of patients.
  • Adapt to environments of care that may be long‑term, emergent, critical, acute, interventional, or procedural driven.
Required Qualifications
  • Associate’s degree in nursing (ADN) or Nursing Diploma.
  • Effective communication skills.
  • Initiative, teamwork and flexibility.
  • Licensed as a Registered Nurse in the state of Nebraska or a current compact state license.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from an American Heart Association (AHA) endorsed program (effective for new hires starting January1,2023 or later).
  • Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification (department dependent).
  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification within 6 months of hire or transfer date (department dependent).
  • Trauma Nursing Core Course (TNCC) or Advanced Trauma Care for Nurses (ATCN) within one year of hire or transfer date (department dependent).
Preferred Qualifications
  • Direct patient care experience.
  • Experience in cardiology, cardiac drip management, critical care, emergency department, medical‑surgical, obstetrics, cardiovascular rehabilitation, telemetry, oncology, neonatal intensive care, pediatric acute care, solid organ transplant, cath lab, EP lab, quality assurance related to health care, perioperative and special procedures.
  • Bachelor's degree in nursing (BSN) or Master's of Science in Nursing (MSN).
  • Courses such as STABLE, smoking cessation counseling, basic critical care, or other specialty training courses.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications (Word, PowerPoint, Excel) and email applications.
  • Proficiency with departmental equipment and systems such as patient care equipment, telecommunication systems, information systems, pneumatic tube system, general patient care supplies, and transport equipment.
