Qualifications

  • Education: Program Graduate
  • Bachelor's Degree as minimum
  • Education specialization includes Nationally Accredited Nursing Graduate and Nursing
  • Experience: 3 years directly related experience
  • Credentials: CPR for Healthcare/BLS Prov or Prof Rescuers w/in 30 days; RN in NM or as allowed by reciprocal agreement by NM

Responsibilities

  • Assume primary administrative responsibility and accountability for all departments and personnel during assigned periods.
  • Serve as on-site representative of UH administration.
  • Serve as a resource for all departments and personnel during assigned periods.
  • Act as liaison between physicians, staff, patients, families, UH departments and other institutions and agencies to promote communication, problem solving, decision-making, crisis intervention, resource utilization, and conflict management.
  • Report summary of incidents to senior management as required.
  • Ensure adherence to hospital and departmental policies and procedures.
  • Patient care assignment may include neonate, pediatric, adolescent, adult and geriatric age groups.
  • SUPERVISION - Develop efficient organizational structure; supervise employees; select, terminate, train, educate, correct deficiencies, perform appraisals, issue discipline, counsel, schedule work assignments; encourage staff teamwork and growth initiatives
  • SUPERVISION - Promote staff development; assist in orientation and development of supervisory personnel
  • GOALS - Support development and revision of departmental and hospital goals, objectives, policies, procedures, projects and programs
  • DECISIONS - Participate in decision-making through active membership in departmental and interdepartmental committees
  • COMMUNICATION - Communicate accurately and timely; promote communication; convey needs and concerns to Administration
  • REPORTING - Report incidents, actions taken and results to appropriate managers at end of shift
  • PATIENT SAFETY - Follow patient safety-related policies and protocols
  • PATIENT SAFETY - Proactive approach to patient safety; seek opportunities to improve policies and processes
  • PATIENT SAFETY - Identify and report environmental conditions that may put a patient at risk
  • PATIENT SAFETY - Report potential or actual patient safety concerns, medical errors and near misses
  • PATIENT SAFETY - Encourage patients to participate in their own care
  • LIAISON - Act as a resource and liaison between UNMH stakeholders and others
  • LEADERSHIP – Provide leadership and supervision to promote patient safety and satisfaction; orientation and development of supervisory personnel
  • ROLE MODEL - Act as a role model; adhere to UNMH policies; demonstrate Behaviors of Excellence
  • PATIENT SAFETY - Respond to emergency calls for sudden, adverse developments in patients; provide support to institute emergency measures
  • OPERATIONS - Coordinate with Leadership, Emergency Management, and Security to initiate disaster plan; coordinate departmental response to emergencies
  • STAFFING - Implement crucial staffing guidelines to balance workload and keep units open
  • RESOURCES - Identify and resolve concerns about resource availability and quality; procure supplies and services
  • COORDINATION - Collaborate with Admitting Office, Access, PALS, physicians, and patient care areas for appropriate patient placement; authorize transfers as needed
