vTech Solution is seeking an Obstetrics Registered Nurse (RN) to provide compassionate care for laboring mothers, postpartum patients, and newborns. The role supports the Med/Surg unit when needed and emphasizes education, fetal monitoring, and collaboration with the healthcare team.

The ideal candidate holds an Idaho RN license (or compact state), 1+ year OB experience, and certifications including BLS, NRP, AWHONN fetal monitoring, with PALS either on hire or within 12 months.

Responsabilités

• Provide nursing care to laboring mothers, postpartum patients, and newborns
• Assist with labor and delivery, including fetal monitoring and meds administration
• Monitor maternal and fetal well-being, respond to complications
• Educate patients and families on postpartum care, breastfeeding, newborn health

Job Summary:

The Obstetrics Registered Nurse (RN) provides compassionate and skilled nursing care to expectant mothers during labor, delivery, and the postpartum period, ensuring the health and safety of both mother and newborn. This role also involves patient education, fetal monitoring, medication administration, and collaboration with healthcare professionals. When the Obstetrics unit is not active, the RN will support the Medical/Surgical unit, demonstrating adaptability and commitment to high-quality patient-centered care across multiple units.

Responsibilities:

• Provide comprehensive nursing care to laboring mothers, postpartum patients, and newborns.
• Assist with labor and delivery, including fetal monitoring and medication administration.
• Monitor maternal and fetal well-being, recognizing and responding to complications promptly.
• Educate patients and families on postpartum care, breastfeeding, and newborn health.
• Collaborate with physicians, midwives, and interdisciplinary teams to ensure safe and effective care.
• Assess, plan, and implement nursing care for adult patients with medical and surgical conditions when assigned to Med/Surg unit.
• Administer medications, IV therapy, and wound care as ordered by physicians.
• Document patient progress, assessments, and care plans accurately and timely.
• Respond to emergencies and coordinate care with the interdisciplinary team.
• Provide emotional, psychological, and spiritual support to patients and families.
• Delegate and oversee tasks assigned to nursing assistants and support staff.
• Attend nursing staff meetings and participate in ongoing professional development.

Required Skills & Certifications:

• Current Registered Nurse (RN) license in Idaho or approved compact state licensure.
• Minimum of one (1) year of obstetric nursing experience.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
• Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) certification.
• AWHONN Intermediate Fetal Monitoring certification.
• Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification required upon hire or within one year.
• Graduate of an approved School of Nursing; BSN preferred.
• Strong clinical assessment, medication administration, and patient education skills.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

Preferred Skills & Certifications:

• Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) degree.
• Experience in maternal/fetal assessment and newborn care.
• Previous experience in medical/surgical nursing.
• Ability to mentor and orient new nursing staff.

Special Considerations:

• Must be able to work weekends, holidays, and rotating shifts as needed.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment covering both Obstetrics and Medical/Surgical units.
• Maintain physical, emotional, and mental health to meet job demands.
• Adherence to hospital policies including safety, infection control, confidentiality, and regulatory compliance.

Scheduling:

• Shift rotations including day, evening, nights, weekends, and holidays as required to maintain unit coverage.
• Shift assignments may vary between Obstetrics and Medical/Surgical units depending on patient census and staffing needs.
