Overview

The Observation Unit is a 35-bed unit that provides acute care for issues ranging from cardiac, to general surgery, to behavioral health. Patients’ goal length of stay is 24-48 hours. The unit operates as a fast-paced, team-oriented environment with close collaboration with physician partners and ancillary team members. There is a unit-based educator, 2 nurse supervisors, charge nurses and a discharge nurse, and a robust Partnership Committee that meets monthly.

Frequent nursing skills/equipment used include Foley/IV/NG insertions, nursing prioritization, IV pumps, lift equipment, SCDs, telemetry monitoring, and patient connection.

Nurse to patient ratio: 1:5-6.

Number of beds on unit: 35.

Compensation and benefits may include: a $10,000 sign-on bonus with a 3-year commitment, relocation stipends (>$5,000 for >100 miles; $2,500 for 50-100 miles), and a BSN bonus ($2,500). External applicants only. RN > 1 year of experience preferred.

Compensation range for this position: $33.68 per hour – $57.93 per hour. This range represents a good faith minimum and maximum at the time of posting and may vary based on experience, qualifications, location, shifts, and compensation model.
