Monday through Friday, with occasional Saturday work and rotating on-call responsibilities for weekends and holidays, as needed.

The Occupational Health Nurse (RN) is responsible for providing direct nursing care to employees under the supervision of the Occupational Health Manager. This position supports employee health, workplace safety, injury management, regulatory compliance, and return-to-work programs while promoting a culture of safety throughout the facility.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Clinical Care
  • Provide direct nursing care to employees in accordance with physician directives, nursing standards, and the applicable State Nurse Practice Act.
  • Deliver compassionate, high-quality care to employees.
  • Monitor employee health status and communicate significant physical or emotional changes to the Occupational Health Manager.
  • Adhere to established health management protocols and treatment plans.
  • Assist with employee transportation during emergency situations.
  • Perform all assigned duties within legal, ethical, and professional standards of nursing practice.
  • Conduct drug and alcohol screenings, hearing tests, and other occupational health assessments as assigned.
Case Management and Return-to-Work Programs
  • Assist managers and supervisors in identifying transitional or alternate duty assignments that align with employee capabilities and medical restrictions.
  • Monitor employees on restricted duty and evaluate compliance with medical limitations.
  • Document all care and employee interactions accurately, maintaining continuity of care and confidentiality.
Health and Safety Initiatives
  • Participate in employee health and safety education programs.
  • Conduct routine observations throughout the facility to identify ergonomic concerns and potentially hazardous conditions.
  • Promote workplace injury prevention and wellness initiatives.
  • Support compliance with OSHA, Workers' Compensation, HIPAA, Bloodborne Pathogen Standards, and other applicable regulations.
  • Maintain accurate and timely records in accordance with regulatory requirements and company policies.
  • Foster awareness of the company's commitment to employee health and safety.
Collaboration and Communication
  • Establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees, supervisors, management, healthcare providers, and third-party administrators (TPAs).
  • Work closely with Safety, Human Resources, and Operations teams to support employee health and workplace safety objectives.
  • Maintain professionalism and confidentiality when handling employee health information.
Additional Responsibilities
  • Maintain knowledge of occupational health practices and industry-specific health and safety requirements.
  • Complete all assigned duties in a professional, timely, and effective manner.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by management.
  • Follow and enforce all company policies related to personnel, quality, safety, and food safety.
  • Maintain a positive and professional work environment through effective communication and teamwork.
  • Participate in continuous improvement initiatives, including problem-solving and process improvement activities.
  • Identify, report, and address safety risks and concerns.
  • Promote and model safe work practices throughout the organization.
Qualifications
Education and Licensure
RN
  • Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing.
  • Current and unrestricted RN license.
Experience
  • Minimum of one (1) year of nursing experience following graduation and licensure.
  • Occupational health, industrial nursing, urgent care, workers' compensation, or emergency care experience preferred.
Skills and Abilities
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong interpersonal and customer service skills.
  • Basic computer proficiency.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information professionally.
  • Current CPR certification.
Physical Requirements
  • Ability to walk throughout all areas of the facility, including stairways.
  • Ability to perform CPR, including kneeling, chest compressions, rescue breathing, and use of emergency equipment.
  • Ability to lift, push, or pull up to 50 pounds.
  • Ability to assist injured employees into wheelchairs or onto stretchers.
  • Manual dexterity sufficient to perform clinical procedures and documentation.
  • Adequate visual and hearing acuity required for safe and effective job performance.
