Job summary

Dignity Health - California Hospital Medical Center in Los Angeles is seeking a Nurse Shift Manager to oversee a team of frontline nurses in an acute care setting. You will advocate for nurses and support their development while ensuring patient care aligns with departmental goals.

• Associates Of Science Nursing and Minimum of two (2) years of clinical experience as a registered nurse, upon hire
• Registered Nurse: CA, upon hire
• Basic Life Support - CPR, upon hire
• Advanced Cardiac Life Support, upon hire
• Fire Safety, within 90 Days

Responsibilities

• Oversee nursing staff assigned to a particular shift, assign patients to staff based on patient needs and staff capabilities
• Assess, monitor, and educate staff on patient care and institute emergency procedures as needed
• Anticipate staffing needs and take proactive action to meet them
• Oversee stocking of supplies and updating patient records to ensure readiness for subsequent shifts

Job Summary and Responsibilities

As our Nurse Shift Manager, you'll oversee a department of frontline nurses caring for patients. Your previous experience in acute care, LTC, or nursing homes adds tremendous value to our nursing team.

Every day you will advocate for your fellow nurses as you support them in reaching their full potential, which aligns with your department's operational goals and objectives.

To thrive in this role, you need to be accountable and confident. You're an excellent communicator in 1:1 interactions and in front of groups. It's also important for you to be comfortable holding tough conversations, as you are responsible for the performance of your people and your unit.

• Supervises nursing staff assigned to a particular shift. Assigns patients to available nursing staff, taking into consideration the patient's condition and the employee's skill level.

• Assesses, monitors, and educates the nursing staff on patient care. Institutes emergency procedures as necessary.

• Anticipates staffing needs and moves proactively to respond to them.

• Oversees stocking of supplies and updating patient records to ensure that the nursing floor is ready for subsequent shifts.

$60.65 - $92.23 /hour
