Qualifications

• One year or less of RN experience is acceptable.

• Documentation of current Basic Life Support certification is necessary.
• Ability to communicate effectively in English.

Responsibilities

• Deliver a full range of nursing care based on the nursing process.
• Maintain accurate records as per nursing standards.
• Communicate effectively with residents and team members.
• Provide necessary training to families and staff.

Are you a new RN looking for support in your first year of nursing? ChildServe’s RN Nurse Residency program is a great way to build confidence in both your clinical and professional skills. In addition to the residency experience, you’ll work full time within one of our inpatient settings, Pediatric/Adolescent Complex Medical units, Pediatric Rehabilitation unit, or our Medical Group Home.

Program Overview

• Online lectures and discussions through University of Iowa’s nurse residency program
• Months 1 – 6: focus on communication, responsibilities of a professional nurse and decision making at the point of care.
• Months 7 – 12: engage in a Professionalism in Action Experience at ChildServe
• Monthly check-ins with ChildServe Clinical Educator to support your development.
• Hands-on practice performing pediatric sub-specialty clinical skills.
• Attainment of CEUs

Schedule / Benefits

• 3 12 hours shifts per week, days or nights shifts available, rotating weekends and holidays
• Benefit eligible, including medical, dental, vision plans, retirement with company match, and generous PTO accrual, including 16 hours of PTO front-loaded

How You’ll Make an Impact

• Within the nursing scope of practice, physician’s orders, and the care plan, make decisions and deliver a full range of nursing care based on the fundamentals of the nursing process.
• Maintain accurate, completed, and timely records as defined by nursing standards of practice and ChildServe policies and procedures.
• Communicate effectively, respectfully, and professionally with residents, physicians, families, school personnel, ChildServe staff, and others to assure assigned child’s care needs are assessed, communicated, and met.
• Provide training to patients, families, and staff as needed to help advance the skills and knowledge of all people associated with a child’s care delivery.
• Demonstrate good stewardship of ChildServe equipment, supplies, and environment.

What You’ll Need

• One year or less of RN experience
• Current valid license as a Registered Nurse in Iowa. Applicants planning to attain a RN license in the next 6 months are welcome to apply.
• Documentation of current Basic Life Support certification
• Ability to lift up to 35 lbs, be mobile within the assigned work area, and frequently bend, lift, reach, and stand.
• Ability to communicate effectively in reading, writing and speaking the English language.
