Job summary

Northern Nevada State Veterans Home in Sparks, NV is seeking an experienced RN Unit Manager to lead our skilled nursing team and drive resident outcomes with compassion and clinical expertise.

You will supervise daily clinical operations, mentor staff, coordinate care, participate in QA, and partner with families and physicians to ensure holistic, person-centered care. This full-time role offers growth, competitive pay, and sign-on bonus or relocation assistance.

Qualifications

• Active RN license in the state of employment required.
• CPR certification required; additional leadership or specialty certifications are a plus.
• Prior leadership experience in a skilled nursing, assisted living, or long-term care environment required.

Responsibilities

• Supervise day-to-day clinical operations for the unit and ensure high-quality, compassionate care.
• Provide mentorship and guidance to nursing staff, CNAs, and caregivers.
• Coordinate care services, staffing assignments, and clinical processes to support resident needs.
• Monitor resident conditions, care plans, and documentation for accuracy and compliance.
• Participate in care conferences, audits, and QA meetings to drive continuous improvement.
• Liaise with families, physicians, and interdisciplinary teams to ensure holistic care.
• Assist with onboarding and training new nurses and support staff.
• Promote open communication and a calm, solutions-oriented work environment.

What You’ll Do (AKA: Your Superpowers)

Lead with Heart & Expertise:

• Supervise day-to-day clinical operations for your unit, ensuring high-quality, compassionate care.

What You Bring to the Table (Besides Compassion & Leadership Skills)

Licensure & Credentials:

• Active RN license in the state of employment required.
• CPR certification required; additional leadership or specialty certifications are a plus.

Experience & Skills:

• Previous leadership experience in a skilled nursing, assisted living, or long-term care environment required.
• Strong knowledge of nursing best practices, regulations, and care planning.
• Excellent leadership, critical thinking, and communication skills.

Physical Requirements:

• Ability to walk, stand, lift, bend, and assist residents throughout your shift.
• Must be able to lift up to 40 pounds and respond quickly to emergencies.
