Job summary

AvaMed Workforce seeks a Registered Nurse to join the medical unit at Mule Creek State Prison in Ione, CA for a 6‑month contract. Night shifts are 8 hours with a 30-minute meal break and one week of orientation.

Dates are 11/30/2026 through 05/30/2027. Orientation is one week; shift is Tue–Sat, 10:30 PM–7:00 AM. Responsibilities include direct nursing care, med administration, and coordination with custody and healthcare providers.

Qualifications

• Current BLS (AHA) certification required.
• Experience in acute care or med-surg settings; correctional experience preferred.
• Background check and facility security clearance required.
• TB test, immunizations and facility health clearances required.

Responsibilities

• Assess, plan and deliver nursing care to incarcerated patients on a medical unit.
• Administer medications and treatments and document care accurately.
• Respond to medical emergencies and coordinate with providers and custody.
• Comply with all safety, security and contraband procedures.
