Job summary

AvaMed Workforce is hiring a Registered Nurse (RN) for a 6-month contract at Salinas Valley State Prison in Soledad, CA. The position is in the Medical unit with 8-hour shifts and a 2-week orientation.

Dates run from 11/16/2026 through 05/16/2027, with Monday–Friday days (6:00 AM–2:30 PM) and a 30-minute meal break. Responsibilities include nursing care, medication administration, documentation in the EHR, and ensuring smooth clinic flow in a correctional setting.

Qualifications

• Current BLS (AHA) certification.
• CDCR or Cerner experience (per the facility).
• Correctional or acute care nursing experience preferred.
• Background check and facility security clearance.
• TB test, immunizations and facility health clearances.

Responsibilities

• Assess, plan and deliver nursing care for patients
• Administer medications and treatments as ordered and document in the EHR
• Monitor patients and escalation changes in condition to providers
• Support sick call, clinic flow and provider visits
• Follow all safety, security and contraband procedures
