Job summary

Duke Health in Durham, NC is accepting RN applications to the New to the Operating Room Program for the February 2027 Cohort. This program helps new graduates and nurses without OR experience gain OR skills in a six to nine month schedule with Monday–Friday 8am–4:30pm shifts.

Participants rotate through Duke Ambulatory Surgery Center, Duke University Hospital and other Duke Health OR units across campuses, with orientation, preceptor support, and progressive responsibilities during the program.

Qualifications

• RN licensure in North Carolina or compact state required by start date.
• Graduation from an accredited BSN or higher; ADN or Diploma acceptable with plan to pursue BSN within seven years.
• New graduates and experienced RNs with no OR experience may apply.

Responsibilities

• Provide and supervise direct and indirect total nursing care responsibilities.
• Use the nursing process (assessing, planning, implementing and evaluating) to achieve nursing goals.
• Plan and provide advanced and/or specialized nursing care as assigned.
• Participate in professional activities, committees, and research projects as directed.
• Deliver nursing services to patients and families per NC Board of Nursing scope.
