Position Summary

1. Under the direction of the Department Director and/or Charge Nurse, provides safe and effective professional nursing care, either directly or indirectly.
2. Assesses, plans, implements, and evaluates the healthcare needs of all assigned patients.
3. Provides nursing care to a patient population ranging from infants to geriatrics.
4. Works collaboratively with the healthcare team, focusing on customer service and meeting unit and hospital goals.
5. Delivers quality nursing care according to established standards and guidelines.
6. Willingness to float to other comparable nursing units as needed.

Qualifications

1. Knowledge of general nursing theories and practices.
2. Previous hospital experience preferred.
3. Management and teaching abilities.
4. Effective motivation and supervision skills.
5. Ability to use initiative and independent judgment within professional scope.
6. Good judgment in evaluating complex situations.
7. Understanding the importance of accuracy in medication administration and documentation.
8. Good verbal communication skills.
9. Tact and diplomacy in dealing with physicians, patients, and families.
10. Discretion in handling confidential information.
11. Ability to work irregular schedules, including weekends and holidays.

Education

1. Current unrestricted RN license in South Carolina.
2. Successful completion of nursing orientation.
3. Competency in IV therapy within one year.
4. Participation in Skills Fair and annual competency checks.
5. Maintains departmental certifications and competencies.
6. Current BCLS certifications; ACLS recommended.
7. Specialty certifications and professional organization participation encouraged.
