Job summary

UW Health is seeking an experienced inpatient Registered Nurse (RN) to join the 12-bed Neuro ICU on D4/4 at University Hospital in Madison, WI. The position includes primarily 7:00 pm–7:30 am shifts (60% FTE) with a two-in-six weekend rotation and required holiday coverage.

Qualifications include RN license in WI, BSN preferred, and ACLS within 6 months. You will work with a collaborative team caring for complex neuro conditions and benefit from UW Health’s strong professional development

Qualifications

• Six (6) months nursing experience or current participant in UW Health’s Nurse Residency Program with successful completion of the Nurse Residency Orientation on unit/similar unit. Required
• Relevant RN experience Preferred
• Bachelor's Degree in Nursing (BSN) Preferred
• Licensed as a Registered Nurse (RN) in the State of WI or other compact state. Required
• Current CPR/BLS Certification Required
• ACLS within 6 months Required
• Relevant certification Preferred

Responsibilities

• Care for adult patients in a Neuro ICU setting with ICU/IMC level of care.
• Monitor neuro status, administer vasoactive medications, and manage neurovascular conditions.
• Collaborate with neurology and neurosurgery teams to provide critical care.
• Document care plans and ensure patient safety and compliance with protocols.

Work Schedule:

60% FTE, 8/12-hour evening/night shift primarily to be scheduled 7:00 pm - 7:30 am with a two in six weekend rotation. Holiday rotation required. You will work at University Hospital in Madison, WI.

Pay:

Additional components of compensation include impressive shift differentials - $4/hour evening, $5/hour night and $4.25/hour weekender differential as applicable for hours worked.

We are seeking an experienced inpatient Registered Nurse (RN) to join our remarkable team at Wisconsin's #1 hospital!

About the unit:

• Care for the adult patient population in a critical care setting with ICU as well as IMC level of care.

• Gain experience with a variety of neurology, neurosurgical and stroke conditions that can include ischemic and hemorrhagic strokes, traumatic brain injuries, hydrocephalus, cerebral aneurysm, and other neurovascular diseases.

• Utilize strong critical thinking skills and provide interventions that may include vasoactive drips, hemodynamic monitoring, feeding tubes, drains, frequent neuro assessments, and more.
