Job summary

PeaceHealth in Springfield, Oregon seeks an experienced Neurology Nurse for a 0.8 FTE night shift on our comprehensive stroke/spine unit. The role supports diverse neuro conditions with a multidisciplinary team to deliver exceptional patient outcomes.

The successful candidate will hold a nursing degree, Oregon RN license, and BLS; NIHSS certification is required within 6 months. Night differential and full benefits accompany this position.

Qualifications

• One year RN experience in acute care; neurology experience preferred.
• BA/BSN or higher from an accredited nursing program required.
• NIHSS certification within 6 months of hire; BLS required on hire.

Responsibilities

• Provide nursing care for neurological patients on a 0.8 FTE night shift.
• Monitor patients, administer medications, and respond to changes in status.
• Collaborate with neurologists, hospitalists, and rehab specialists.

• 0.8 FTE, Night Shift position (8 hour shifts)
• The salary range for this job opening at PeaceHealth is $50.78 – $79.78
• Additional Night Shift differential- $9.50/hour

As a Neurology Nurse, you will care for patients with a wide range of neurological diagnoses, including:

• Stroke and transient ischemic attack (TIA)

You will work alongside experienced neurologists, hospitalists, rehabilitation specialists, therapists, and nursing professionals in a multidisciplinary environment focused on delivering exceptional patient outcomes.

What You Bring!

Education: Degree from an accredited School of Nursing Required

Experience:Minimum of one year RN experience required in an acute care facility or (for RN residents) successful completion of a training course/orientation and standard competencies within six months of hire.

Acute care and/or neurology experience is preferred.

Credentials:

• Required: State of Oregon Nursing license

• Required Upon Hire: Basic Life Support

Department / Location Specific Notes

Medical/Surgical- Observation Unit & Neurology:

• National Institute of Health Stroke Scale Certification (NIHSS) required within 6 months.

Working Conditions

Lifting

• Patient handling no greater than 35 lbs. without the use of assistive equipment and/or devices (NIOSH).

• Fine motor skills to be able to grasp and control medical equipment and perform precise procedures.

• Push/Pull: Frequently up to 45 lbs. force (i.e., WOW, medical carts).

• Perform hands on CPR at least 20 mins using 100-125 lbs. of force (National Assoc. of EMS Physicians and AHA) Frequency should be seldom or occasionally.

• Ability to move around area with frequent sitting.

• Bending/ stooping/ squatting/ reaching/ kneeling frequently.

• Lifting (non-patient) up to 20 lbs. occasionally and 5 lbs. frequently.

Environmental Conditions

• Exposure to biohazard, body fluids and airborne particles.

• Must be able to complete tasks in a noisy environment.

Mental/Visual

• Vision and hearing required within normal limits (glasses, contacts, hearing aids permitted).

• Ability to communicate and exchange accurate information.
