Job summary

AdventHealth Wesley Chapel in Florida is seeking a Registered Nurse to join the OB care team in a full-time day shift. You will coordinate patient care, communicate with patients and staff, and ensure safe, efficient flow from admission to discharge in collaboration with physicians and on-call teams.

Qualifications include an RN license, BLS, and 2+ years in OB settings; associates degree required, bachelor's preferred.

• Ability to communicate effectively with unit and administrative personnel, physicians, a variety of other hospital staff.
• Good verbal and written communication skills.

• Ability to integrate the knowledge of teaching principles and techniques in order to provide education to patients and their families.
• Possess a high level of organizational skills and effective time management to prioritize and adjust workflow according to changing needs.
• Ability to function in demanding and emergency situations.
• Possess orientation to detail.
• Be proficient in computer skills.
• Ability to adapt to change.
• Skill and proficiency in applying highly technical principles, concepts, and techniques central to the medical profession.
• Bi‑lingual language skills.

Responsibilities

• Demonstrates good communication skills respectfully and courteously when interacting with patients, co-workers, physicians, and colleagues within the department.
• Collaborates with on‑call Physicians to monitor utilization of resources to deliver quality care in a safe, efficient, and cost‑effective manner.
• Communicates information to patients, families, other providers, and service representatives.
• Maintains efficiency in patient work‑up flow and triage responsibilities.
• Demonstrates knowledge and compliance with Hospital guidelines and regulatory requirements.
• Participates in ongoing staff development and serves as a mentor and advisor to new team members.
• Maintains accurate, legible documentation of patient medications, messages, sample meds, and pharmacy documentation.
• Keeps current with new technology and updates on care and medications.
• Schedules follow‑up appointments using Physician Group Systems for patients after delivery and during the post‑op period according to discharge instructions.
• Obtains discharge summaries from all ED and hospitalizations as necessary for physicians and contacts patients with follow‑up calls within 2 days of discharge for high‑risk patients.
• Contributes to the growth of the practice by managing patient flow and recommending follow‑up visits if needed.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
