Description: This position involves providing care to medical-surgical patients with a variety of nursing needs. Typical patients may include those with diabetes, COPD, renal issues, and infectious diseases. Candidates will manage patients with co-morbidities, vascular conditions, extensive wounds, pneumonia, sepsis, and post-operative surgical care. All travelers will float to other units within the service line as needed. Weekend shifts are required every other week. On-call duties may also be necessary. Experience with orthopedic total joint surgeries and neuro surgeries is essential. The patient-to-nurse ratio is typically 1:5-6. Orientation is comprehensive, allowing for acclimatization to the unit and protocol expectations. Travel experience is preferred, but first-timers may be accepted if they meet the experience requirement. There are no restrictions on time off other than a maximum of 7 days, which must be finalized before submission. Additional skills related to pre/post neurosurgery, total joint replacements, and post-surgical care are crucial for consideration.
