Job summary

Western Home Communities seeks an experienced RN leader to join as Nurse Mentor at our Ackley location. You will mentor staff, oversee MDS processes, and ensure high-quality, person-centered care, with weekend shift packages available.

The role requires Iowa RN licensure, strong leadership, and commitment to infection control and collaborative teamwork. Weekend availability and willingness to obtain required certifications are expected.

Qualifications

• Graduate of a state board-approved RN program.
• Current Iowa RN license in good standing.
• Strong organizational, communication, and leadership skills.
• Preferred: Familiarity with MDS process.
• Preferred: Infection prevention and control certification.
• Completion of the Iowa mandatory supervisory course (or willing to complete within 6 months).
• Current CPR certification (or willingness to obtain).
• Flexibility to work weekends and holidays as needed.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct resident care while mentoring and supporting staff.
• Identify and manage infection control practices; educate team members on precautions.
• Oversee and participate in MDS processes; scheduling and transmitting assessments.
• Supervise and guide direct care staff to ensure high standards of care.
• Administer medications, treatments, and physician-ordered care with precision.
• Communicate with physicians, supervisors, and family members regarding resident needs.
• Foster a team-oriented, compassionate, and professional environment.
