Job summary

TalentBurst is seeking an RN for Med/Surg/Telemetry travel assignment in Macon, GA. The role features a 12-hour day shift, three days per week, 13-week duration, and entails working onsite with a busy teaching hospital environment.

Responsibilities include patient care across med-surg units, telemetry rhythm monitoring, and collaboration with the interdisciplinary team. Requires BLS, ACLS preferred, and EPIC experience. Housing/fleet options may be provided.

Day Shift 12 hours/day 3 days/week

Title: RN - MedSurg/Tele

Location: Macon Georgia 31201

Duration: 13 Weeks

Shift: 12hr Day Shift - 36

Shift Information: 7A-7P

Clinical Interviewing- Yes - Manager Approval to Offer

On Call, Call Back Requirements: None

Weekend Rotation: 6 shifts on a 6 week schedule (6 out of 12 shifts)

Holiday Requirements: Travelers will work 75% of holidays

Floating Requirements: all med surg / telemetry units

Start Date- 12th Oct

About Facility:

• 637 Licensed Beds
• Level 1 Trauma Designation

Unit Information:

• Beds: Each Med Surg unit has 20-36 beds

Minimum Years of Experience required: 2 years Med/Tele RN exp

• Will you accept a first-time traveler: Yes

Patient Types/Common Diagnoses:

• Med surg / Telemetry – all inpatient med surg units
• Common diagnoses include but are not limited to:
  • Patients with acute or chronic disease
  • Co-morbidities common to med-surg population: diabetes, hypertension, infections, electrolytes imbalances, etc.
  • Cardiac patients: post-cath, CHF, a-fib
  • Post surgical: General, Ortho, Trauma

Patient Ratios:

• RN: 1:4-6
• LPN: 1:4-6
• CNA: up to 1:14

Required License, National Certification, Certs (BLS, ACLS, etc.), or other position specific requirements such as Driver's License and/or Insurance:

• BLS required
• ACLS preferred – traveler will be required to pass and EKG competency exam during onboarding
• Certification in med surg is a plus

Skills required:

• Trach chare, chest tube management, PIV starts and IV maintenance, glucommander, strong assessment and time management skills, care coordination with interdisciplinary team, discharge planning knowledge, patient education
• Tele skills (required): monitoring and interpreting cardiac rhythms, post-cath, TR bands, post-cath groin site management (no sheath pulls)
• Drips (required): insulin, heparin, Cardizem, amiodarone, milrinone, Digoxin, nicardipine. Could titrate drips for HR but not for BP
• 6 months EPIC experience required

Support within the Department:

• CNA – will assist with Vitals, blood glucose checks, baths, bed changes, feeding if need, patient safety attendant; walk pts, turn pts
• Unit Secretary: on unit 7a-11p; then house wide call secretary 11p-7a
• Charge nurse: may or may not have patients
• Phlebotomy: Most units are lab collect phlebotomy; RNs draw off of CVLs
• IV/VAT Team: Not an IV team - do have a PICC team
• Resource Nurse: Yes, we have discharge nurses, and the Resource team floats to all units
• RT 24/7
• Hospitalist 24/7
• Intensivist 24/7
• Telemetry monitoring/tech: Central telemetry unit

Technology/Equipment:

• EMR: EPIC – 6 months EPIC experience required
• IV Pump: Alaris
• Med dispensing: Pyxis
• Monitors: Phillips
• Unit specific equipment: VS3 vital sign monitors, Nova Glucose Stat Strips,

Floating: If yes, where:

• Travelers are utilized in a float pool capacity – will be required to float to all Med/Tele units in house, as needed
• Will also float to ED for holds

Orientation (facility and unit):

• 1 day orientation with work on educational modules
• 2 days departmental
