Job summary

Horizon Health in Paris, IL seeks a Registered Nurse for the Medical-Surgical Unit to assess, plan, implement and evaluate patient care with supervision. The RN will follow established policies and nursing standards to ensure quality care.

The role requires an Illinois RN license and current BLS; ACLS is preferred. A minimum of three years’ experience is preferred but not required; on-site duties include 25-bed unit operations and rotating self-scheduling. Hospital-wide benefits are offered.

Qualifications

• Graduate from an associate degree, baccalaureate degree, or diploma school of nursing.
• Current RN licensure in the state of Illinois.
• Current BLS is required.
• ACLS certification is preferred.
• Minimum of three years’ experience is preferred but not required.

Responsibilities

• Completes physical assessment and patient interview according to departmental policy.
• Implements the patient care plan through giving and delegating direct care.
• Identifies and communicates unusual or abnormal assessment of patient care problems to the Charge Nurse/Manager.
• Administers safely and accurately all medications within the acceptable limits of professional judgement and policy.
• Initiates, monitors and manages IV therapy.
• Teaches and reinforces teaching to patient and family during care delivery.
• Reviews instructions with patient and family before transfer or discharge.
• Determines and delegates assignments to ensure tasks are completed on time.
• Explains procedures and treatments to patients and families before completion.
• Maintains knowledge of infection control, OSHA, TB/respiratory safety policies.
• Maintains patient confidentiality and accesses records on a need-to-know basis.

Horizon Health is a Critical Access, Rural Health Facility comprised of 25 inpatient beds located in Paris, IL & a multitude of outpatient clinic settings including Family Practice and Specialty Clinics in Paris and surrounding cities. Position Summary

The Registered Nurse (RN) is responsible for assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating the nursing care of the patients assigned to him/her during a given period of time. The RN functions under minimal supervision and according to established policies, procedures, and professional nursing standards. The RN performs other assignments as required.

Essential Functions

• Completes physical assessment and patient interview according to departmental policy.
• Implements the patient care plan through giving and delegating direct care.
• Identifies and communicates unusual or abnormal assessment of patient care problems to the Charge Nurse/Manager.
• Administers safely and accurately all medications within the acceptable limits of professional judgement and policy (following medication administration rights).
• Initiates, monitors and manages IV therapy.
• Utilizes opportunities during the delivery of patient care to teach and reinforce teaching to the patient, family members, and/or significant others.
• Reviews instructions with patient, family, and/or significant others before transfer or discharge, and sends appropriate forms.
• Determines and delegates assignments appropriately in order that tasks are completed within an allotted time.
• Explains procedures and treatments thoroughly to patients, families, and/or significant others before completion.
• Maintains knowledge of job-related duties; infection control, OSHA blood borne pathogens, TB/respiratory, protection plan, policies and procedures.
• Maintains patient confidentiality and avoids accessing patient information in computer except on a need-to-know basis.

The responsibilities listed above are not all-inclusive; other activities may be required in support of the hospital’s goals and objectives.

Unit Information

• 25-bed unit including 3-bed SCU bed unit (all private rooms)
• Nurse to patient ratio based on acuity
• Offer self-scheduling on rotating basis
• On-site provider 24hrs a day

Position Requirements

• Graduate from an associate degree, baccalaureate degree, or diploma school of nursing.
• Current RN licensure in the state of Illinois. (May consider applicant with IL RN licensure in progress)
• Current BLS is required.
• ACLS certification is preferred.
• Minimum of three years’ experience is preferred but not required.

Pay Range

Pay ranges from $27.473/hour to $43.997/hour (rate of pay is based on applicable years of experience)
