Job summary

Trinity Health St. Joseph Mercy Ann Arbor is seeking a Registered Nurse for the 8E General Surgery unit. The role supports a wide range of procedures, including colorectal, hepatobiliary, thyroid/parathyroid, and vascular trauma, with evening and night shifts available.

The successful candidate will hold an MI RN license, BLS, ACLS for designated units, and BSN preferred. BSN in progress meets criteria; experience in surgical nursing is valued. Competitive benefits apply.

Qualifications

• Graduation from a nursing program with NCLEX eligibility to become licensed as an RN. BSN preferred.
• Current MI RN license and BLS required; ACLS required for Float Pool, Cardiac/Cath Lab, AICU, Emergency.
• 5-year plan to obtain BSN for new hires after date of hire or transfer.
• Knowledge of nursing theory, practice and age-specific needs.

Responsibilities

• Gathers and analyzes patient information.
• Develops, implements, evaluates and revises an individualized plan of care.
• Uses teach back to educate patient and family.
• Seeks to prevent hospital-acquired conditions.
• Communicates patient status and plan during rounds and handoffs.
• Follows HIPAA policies and aligns with mission and values of St. Joseph Mercy Hospitals.

Position Purpose

Shifts Available

Night Shift: 7:00 PM to 7:00 AM

Status Available

Full time, Part time Every Other Weekend and Every other Holiday per year required for Full-time and Part-Time team members.

Required Qualifications

Education

Graduation from a school of nursing that results in the ability of the graduate to sit for the NCLEX exam to become licensed as a Registered Nurse. BSN preferred.

Licensure

• Current State of Michigan Registered Nurse (RN) License.
• BLS.
• ACLS required for the following departments : Float Pool, Cardiac/Cath Lab, AICU, Emergency

Experience

Experienced Canadian Registered Nurses are encouraged to apply

• Graduation from accredited nursing program.
• Effective January 1, 2013 all new hires must have a BSN degree or must agree in writing to obtain their BSN within five (5) years from date of hire or transfer to an RN role.
• Knowledge of nursing theory, practice and age specific needs
• Interpersonal skills necessary to initiate and maintain collegial relationships with coworkers and therapeutic relationships with patients and families.
• Critical thinking skills necessary to perform principal duties and responsibilities of job description.
• Ability to concentrate and pay close attention to detail when planning and performing professional nursing care
