Job summary

Trinity Health Ann Arbor is seeking a Registered Nurse for the 2 East Surgical Stepdown/PCU. You will care for high‑acuity surgical patients, monitor lines, and coordinate complex nursing care on a fast-paced unit.

The role supports Core Surgical Services, Cardiothoracic and Vascular Surgery with opportunities in ICU and ED pathways. BSN preferred, Michigan RN license required, ACLS/BLS as applicable.

Qualifications

• Graduation from a nursing program that enables NCLEX eligibility to obtain RN licensure.
• BSN degree preferred where possible.
• Current Michigan RN license in good standing.
• BLS certification required for all RN staff.
• ACLS required for Float Pool, Cardiac/Cath Lab, AICU, Emergency departments.

Responsibilities

• Gathers and analyzes patient information.
• Develops, implements, evaluates and revises an individualized plan of care.
• Uses teach back methodology to educate patient and family.
• Actively seeks to prevent potential hospital-acquired conditions.
• Effectively communicates patient status, priority goals and interventions during consultations, rounds and handoffs.
• Follows HIPAA policies and adheres to Mission, Vision and Values.

Shift: 12 Hour Night Shift

Description: Registered Nurse

Department: Surgical Stepdown / Progressive Care Unit (PCU)

Location: Trinity Health Ann Arbor

Position Purpose:

2 East cares for high‑acuity surgical patients who require frequent monitoring, multiple lines/tubes, and complex nursing care.

The 32-bed unit specializes in Core Surgical Services, Cardiothoracic Surgery, Vascular Surgery. Additional Surgical Populationsinclude General Surgery, Trauma, and Plastic Surgery.

2 East is a fast‑paced, dynamic unit known for High volume and high patient turnover. Nurses will use constant clinical decision-makingwith diverse patient scenarios (including medicine overflow patients when beds permit).

This unit is a strong professional foundation for nurses aspiring to:

• ICU roles
• Emergency Department roles
• Other high‑acuity specialties

Shifts Available: 7:00 PM to 7:00 AM Nights

Status Available: Full time, Part time Every Other Weekend and Every other Holiday per year required for Full-time and Part-Time team members.

Required Qualifications:

Education

Graduation from a school of nursing that results in the ability of the graduate to sit for the NCLEX exam to become licensed as a Registered Nurse. BSN preferred.

Licensure

• Current State of Michigan Registered Nurse (RN) License.
• BLS.
• ACLS required for the following departments : Float Pool, Cardiac/Cath Lab, AICU, Emergency

Experience

Experienced Canadian Registered Nurses are encouraged to apply

• Graduation from accredited nursing program.
• Effective January 1, 2013 all new hires must have a BSN degree or must agree in writing to obtain their BSN within five (5) years from date of hire or transfer to an RN role.
• Knowledge of nursing theory, practice and age specific needs
• Interpersonal skills necessary to initiate and maintain collegial relationships with coworkers and therapeutic relationships with patients and families.
• Critical thinking skills necessary to perform principal duties and responsibilities of job description.
• Ability to concentrate and pay close attention to detail when planning and performing professional nursing care
