Job summary

Corewell Health's Med Surg Care Unit A 3 Niles is seeking a part-time RN for day shifts (7 a.m. – 7 p.m.) at Lakeland Hospital Niles. 16-bed unit with medical and some general surgical cases; requires ADN or BSN, MI RN licensure, BLS, and NIHSS within 90 days.

The nurse will apply the nursing process, coordinate with families, and document education in the health record. Qualifications include MI RN, NCLEX completion, and acute care experience if from non-accredited programs.

Qualifications

• Nursing degree and active MI RN licensure required.
• Non-accredited nursing graduates must have acute care or healthcare experience and pass NCLEX.
• BLS certification required; NIHSS certification preferred within 90 days.

Responsibilities

• Provide professional nursing care using the nursing process with patient/family centered planning.
• Assess, plan, implement, evaluate, and discharge patient care under Nurse Leader supervision.
• Collaborate with the care team and document education and learning in the health record.

About the Unit

A3 - The Med Surg unit is a 16-bed unit where most patients are medical cases. Adult patients have a variety of diagnoses. We also see general surgical cases as well.

We provide both inpatient and outpatient medical services throughout Southwest Michigan.

Scope of Work

The RN, under the ANA scope of practice utilizes the framework of the nursing process to provide professional nursing care by incorporating patient-family centered care principles to assess, plan, implement, evaluate, and discharge. The RN provides quality patient care under the direction of the Nurse Leader according to Corewell Health policies and procedures and recognizes the impact of nursing care and patient/family partnerships on patient outcomes. The RN partners with and utilizes patient/family input and goals in planning plan of care and develops teaching strategies for patient/family; documents education and learning appropriately in health record.

Qualifications

• Associates in Nursing
• Bachelors in Nursing within 5 years
• Graduates from a non-accredited school of nursing must have at least one year of acute care experience or at least two years of experience in a licensed health care role and must have successfully passed the NCLEX licensure examination.
• MI Registered Nurse (RN)
• AHA or ARC Basic Life Support (BLS)
• CRT-NIH Stroke Certification - NIHSS National Institute of Health Stroke Scale within 90 Days
