Job summary

Martin Luther King, Jr. Community Hospital is seeking a Clinical Staff Nurse to float across Medical-Surgical Telemetry and related units as patient census requires. The RN will provide high-quality, patient/family-centered care following the Watson Model of Care and hospital policies.

The role requires a California RN license and a BSN preferred or ASN/diploma. A 12-hour shift pattern, opportunity for cross-unit practice, and involvement in discharge planning are key elements of the position.

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Sciences degree preferred; ASN or nursing diploma acceptable.
• Minimum of 12 months of clinical nursing experience.
• Minimum of 12 months Med/Surg/Telemetry or Critical Care nursing experience.
• Current California Nursing license.
• Basic EKG competence.
• Certification in Progressive Critical Care Nursing preferred.
• Certification in Medical / Surgical Nursing preferred.

Responsibilities

• Float across units as patient census dictates and provide care for MS Telemetry patients.
• Utilize nursing process to assess, plan, implement and evaluate patient care.
• Perform focused assessments and adjust care plan based on changes in condition.
• Maintain therapeutic nurse/patient relationship and document care per IPOC and Watson Model.
• Conduct hourly rounding and communicate effectively using SBAR.
• Coordinate discharge planning with Care Managers and update physicians on significant changes.
