Job summary

Martin Luther King, Jr. Community Hospital is seeking a Clinical Staff Nurse to float across Medical-Surgical Telemetry units, ED, ICU, and PACU as needed. You will organize, plan, direct, and deliver high-quality, patient/family-centered care using the Watson Model of Care for a defined group of patients.

The role requires 12 hours shifts, a strong nursing background, and a commitment to the hospital’s mission and core values. BLS/ACLS, EKG competence, and bilingual abilities are valued assets.

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Sciences degree preferred.
• Associate in Nursing, Nursing Diploma, or equivalent required.

Responsibilities

• Float across Medical-Surgical Telemetry units, ED, ICU or PACU as needed.
• Use the nursing process to assess, plan, implement and evaluate patient care.
• Perform comprehensive nursing assessments and prioritize care based on acuity.
• Provide age-appropriate care and apply current literature to guide decisions.
• Maintain a therapeutic nurse/patient relationship and conduct hourly rounds.
• Communicate using SBAR in all hand-offs and document ICP/plan of care.
• Identify changes in patient condition and notify physician as needed.
• Coordinate discharge planning with care managers for eligible patients.
• Ensure documentation in IPOC and regulatory compliance in daily practice.
• Supervise and orientate ancillary staff and registry personnel.
• Maintain professional appearance and adhere to hospital dress code and ID policy.
• Promote patient safety and participate in unit Quality & Performance Improvement activities.
• Assist with orientation of new employees and unit setup of equipment and supplies.
