Job summary

Northwestern Medicine in DeKalb, IL is seeking a Registered Nurse for Medical-Surgical-Oncology on a full-time day shift. The RN will provide high-quality nursing care using the nursing process and will work with a multidisciplinary team to meet patient needs.

You will perform assessments, administer medications, educate patients and families, and contribute to discharge planning, while adhering to standards of care and OSHA guidelines.

Qualifications

• BSN required and current IL RN license.
• BLS certification required.
• ADN may be accepted with commitment to obtain BSN within 3 years.

Responsibilities

• Assess patients using age-appropriate criteria and document findings.
• Develop and update nursing plan of care with the team and patient/family.
• Administer medications and monitor patient responses.
• Educate patients and families and coordinate discharge planning.
• Communicate changes in patient status to the care team and physicians.

Education

Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN)

Current State of Illinois Registered Professional Nurse

American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS)

Associate Degree Nursing (ADN) acceptable with commitment to obtain a BSN within three years of employment
