Mercy Hospital South is hiring a Registered Nurse (RN) for Med Surg 5W in St. Louis, MO. The unit cares for adult medical patients with varied diagnoses. New grads and experienced nurses are welcome; night shift is 7:00 PM–7:30 AM, full-time 36 hours per week.

Location: Mercy Hospital South, 10010 Kennerly Rd, St. Louis, MO 63128. Sign-on bonus up to $20,000 for experienced nurses and up to $10,000 for new grads.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited school of nursing with one of the following: Associate Degree in Nursing, Nursing Diploma, or BSN.
• Must hold and maintain a current Registered Nurse (RN) license in Missouri or possess compact licensure, per state regulations.
• Previous hospital experience is preferred and may be required depending on the unit.
• Required: Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through American Heart Association, or to complete within 30 days of hire.

About the Unit — Med Surg 5W

Med Surg 5W cares for adult medical patients with diagnoses such as small bowel obstructions, respiratory infections, cellulitis, diverticulitis, and pneumonia. This unit provides an excellent environment to strengthen core Med Surg skills, enhance assessment abilities, and manage patients with diverse medical needs.

Overview

Utilizes the nursing process to provide patient care. Maintains professional accountability for provision of patient care for the assigned patients. Evaluates the overall effectiveness of care provided by other direct care givers. Coordinates the patient care in conjunction with other departments. Maintains patient rights and confidentiality of patient information. Performs duties and responsibilities in a manner consistent with our mission, values, and mercy service standards.

Qualifications

Education:Graduate of an accredited school of nursing with one of the following:

• Associate Degree in Nursing
• Nursing Diploma
• Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN)

Licensure:Must hold and maintain a current Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of Missouri or possess compact licensure, in accordance with state board of nursing regulations.

Experience:Previous hospital experience is preferred and may be required depending on the unit.

Certifications

• Required:Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Heart Association, or completion within 30 days of hire.

Preferred Qualifications

• Education:BSN preferred
• Licensure:Additional state licensure or specialty certifications preferred
• Experience:Prior experience in specialty area or similar clinical setting
