Job summary

Mercy is seeking a Registered Nurse (RN) for the Inpatient Med/Surg unit at Mercy Hospital South in St. Louis, MO. This full-time position offers a 36-hour work week with a Day Shift (7:00 AM–7:30 PM) and a sign-on bonus program.

New graduates and experienced nurses are welcome. MO or compact licensure is required, BLS must be current or obtained within 30 days of hire. The unit provides diverse patient care and a supportive clinical team.

Qualifications

• Education: Graduate of an accredited school of nursing.
• Licensure: Must hold MO RN license or compact licensure.
• Experience: Previous hospital experience is preferred.

Schedule: Full-Time | 36 hours/week

Shift: Day Shift | 7:00AM-7:30PM

About the Unit — Inpatient Med Surg

Inpatient Med Surg provides care for adult patients with a wide range of medical conditions, including small bowel obstructions, respiratory infections, cellulitis, diverticulitis, and pneumonia. This unit offers a strong clinical foundation with diverse patient needs, frequent assessments, and dynamic care coordination.

Overview

Utilizes the nursing process to provide patient care. Maintains professional accountability for provision of patient care for the assigned patients. Evaluates the overall effectiveness of care provided by other direct care givers. Coordinates the patient care in conjunction with other departments. Maintains patient rights and confidentiality of patient information. Performs duties and responsibilities in a manner consistent with our mission, values, and mercy service standards.

Qualifications

Education: Graduate of an accredited school of nursing with one of the following:

• Associate Degree in Nursing
• Nursing Diploma
• Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN)

Licensure: Must hold and maintain a current Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of Missouri or possess compact licensure, in accordance with state board of nursing regulations.

Experience: Previous hospital experience is preferred and may be required depending on the unit.

Certifications

• Required: Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Heart Association, or completion within 30 days of hire.

Preferred Qualifications

• Education: BSN preferred
• Licensure: Additional state licensure or specialty certifications preferred
• Experience: Prior experience in specialty area or similar clinical setting

Physical Requirements

• Ability to push, pull, and lift up to 50 lbs regularly
• Prolonged standing and walking throughout the shift
• Ability to grip, reach, bend, kneel, twist, and squat as needed to perform nursing duties
