Job summary

Mercy Hospital South in St. Louis, MO is seeking a Registered Nurse for Med Surg 5W. New grads welcome. Location: Mercy Hospital South, St. Louis. Schedule: Full-Time, 36 hours/week. Shift: Night, 7:00PM–7:30AM. Sign-On: up to $10,000 for experienced nurses, up to $5,000 for new grads.

The Med Surg 5W unit cares for adult medical patients and offers a setting to strengthen core nursing skills with diverse cases and collaborative care among departments.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited school of nursing with one of the following.

Responsibilities

• Utilizes the nursing process to provide patient care and maintains professional accountability for the care of assigned patients.
• Evaluates the overall effectiveness of care provided by other direct care givers and coordinates patient care with other departments.
• Maintains patient rights and confidentiality of patient information in accordance with Mercy standards.

Schedule:Full-Time | 36 hours/week

Shift:Night Shift | 7:00PM-7:30AM

About the Unit - Med Surg 5W

Med Surg 5W cares for adult medical patients with diagnoses such as small bowel obstructions, respiratory infections, cellulitis, diverticulitis, and pneumonia. This unit provides an excellent environment to strengthen core Med Surg skills, enhance assessment abilities, and manage patients with diverse medical needs.

Evaluates the overall effectiveness of care provided by other direct care givers. Coordinates the patient care in conjunction with other departments. Maintains patient rights and confidentiality of patient information. Performs duties and responsibilities in a manner consistent with our mission, values, and mercy service standards.

Qualifications

Education:Graduate of an accredited school of nursing with one of the following:

• Associate Degree in Nursing
• Nursing Diploma
• Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN)

Licensure:Must hold and maintain a current Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of Missouri or possess compact licensure, in accordance with state board of nursing regulations.

Experience:Previous hospital experience is preferred and may be required depending on the unit.

Certifications:

• Required: Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Heart Association, or completion within 30 days of hire.

Preferred Qualifications

• Education: BSN preferred
• Licensure: Additional state licensure or specialty certifications preferred
• Experience: Prior experience in specialty area or similar clinical setting

Physical Requirements

• Ability to push, pull, and lift up to 50 lbs regularly
• Prolonged standing and walking throughout the shift
• Ability to grip, reach, bend, kneel, twist, and squat as needed to perform nursing duties
