Mercy Health is seeking a Registered Nurse for Med Surg 5W in St. Louis, MO. The role involves applying the nursing process to provide patient care, coordinating care with other departments, and ensuring patient rights and confidentiality.
New grads and experienced nurses are welcome. Location is Mercy Hospital South with a 36-hour weekly schedule (Night shift 7:00 PM–7:30 AM). Sign-on bonuses up to $10,000 for experienced nurses and up to $5,000 for new grads are offered.
Overview:Utilizes the nursing process to provide patient care. Maintains professional accountability for provision of patient care for the assigned patients. Evaluates the overall effectiveness of care provided by other direct care givers. Coordinates the patient care in conjunction with other departments. Maintains patient rights and confidentiality of patient information. Performs duties and responsibilities in a manner consistent with our mission, values, and Mercy Service Standards.

Med Surg 5W cares for adult medical patients with diagnoses such as small bowel obstructions, respiratory infections, cellulitis, diverticulitis, and pneumonia. This unit provides an excellent environment to strengthen core Med Surg skills, enhance assessment abilities, and manage patients with diverse medical needs.

Graduate of an accredited school of nursing with one of the following:
Must hold and maintain a current Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of Missouri or possess compact licensure, in accordance with state board of nursing regulations.
Previous hospital experience is preferred and may be required depending on the unit.
Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Heart Association, or completion within 30 days of hire.
BSN preferred
Additional state licensure or specialty certifications preferred
Prior experience in specialty area or similar clinical setting
