Job summary

Mercy Hospital South is seeking an RN for Med Surg 5E in St. Louis, MO. The unit handles a wide range of adult medical patients with a focus on thorough assessment, care planning, and multidisciplinary teamwork.

The role requires Missouri RN licensure (or compact) and a valid BLS. Night shifts are 7:00 PM–7:30 AM, full-time with a 36-hour week. Sign-on bonuses up to $10,000 for experienced nurses and $5,000 for new grads are offered.

Qualifications

• Education: Graduate of an accredited school of nursing with one of the following: Associate Degree in Nursing, Nursing Diploma, or BSN.
• Licensure: Current RN license in Missouri or compact licensure.
• Experience: Previous hospital experience preferred.
• Certifications: BLS certification either held or must be completed within 30 days of hire.

Registered Nurse (RN) – Med Surg 5E

Location: Mercy Hospital South - 10010 Kennerly Rd, St. Louis, Missouri 63128

Schedule:Full-Time | 36 hours/week

Shift:Night Shift | 7:00PM-7:30AM

About the Unit

Med Surg 5E provides care for a wide variety of adult medical patients.

Typical diagnoses include

• Small bowel obstructions

• Respiratory infections

• Cellulitis

• Diverticulitis

• Pneumonia

This unit offers strong opportunities to develop and strengthen core clinical skills including patient assessment, time management, and complex care coordination. Nurses on 5E gain experience with medical patients who require frequent monitoring, thoughtful care planning, and multidisciplinary teamwork.

Qualifications

Education:Graduate of an accredited school of nursing with one of the following:

• Associate Degree in Nursing

• Nursing Diploma

• Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN)

Licensure:Must hold and maintain a current Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of Missouri or possess compact licensure, in accordance with state board of nursing regulations.

Experience:Previous hospital experience is preferred and may be required depending on the unit.

Certifications

• Required:Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Heart Association, or completion within 30 days of hire.

Preferred Qualifications

• Education:BSN preferred

• Licensure:Additional state licensure or specialty certifications preferred

• Experience:Prior experience in specialty area or similar clinical setting

Physical Requirements

• Ability to push, pull, and lift up to 50 lbs regularly

• Prolonged standing and walking throughout the shift

• Ability to grip, reach, bend, kneel, twist, and squat as needed to perform nursing duties
