Job summary

Mercy Hospital South is seeking an RN for Med Surg 5W. New grads and experienced nurses are welcome. Location: St. Louis, MO. Schedule: Full-Time, 36 hours/week. Shift: Night 7:00 PM – 7:30 AM. Sign-On Bonus: Experienced up to $10,000; new grads up to $5,000.

This Med Surg unit handles adult medical conditions and offers opportunities to strengthen core nursing skills in a collaborative team environment. Missouri RN license and BLS required, BSN preferred.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited school of nursing with ADN, Diploma or BSN.
• Current Registered Nurse license in Missouri or compact licensure.
• BLS certification through AHA, or within 30 days of hire.

Responsibilities

• Utilizes the nursing process to provide patient care.
• Maintains professional accountability for patient care for assigned patients.
• Coordinates patient care with other departments and maintains patient rights and confidentiality.

Schedule: Full-Time | 36 hours/week

Shift: Night Shift | 7:00PM-7:30AM

Sign-On Bonus: Experienced Nurses: Up to $10,000

New Graduate Nurses (less than 1 year of experience): Up to $5,000

About the Unit

Med Surg 5W cares for adult medical patients with diagnoses such as small bowel obstructions, respiratory infections, cellulitis, diverticulitis, and pneumonia.

This unit provides an excellent environment to strengthen core Med Surg skills, enhance assessment abilities, and manage patients with diverse medical needs.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited school of nursing with one of the following: Associate Degree in Nursing
• Nursing Diploma
• Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN)

Must hold and maintain a current Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of Missouri or possess compact licensure, in accordance with state board of nursing regulations.

Previous hospital experience is preferred and may be required depending on the unit.

Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Heart Association, or completion within 30 days of hire.

Preferred Qualifications

• BSN preferred

• Additional state licensure or specialty certifications preferred

• Prior experience in specialty area or similar clinical setting

Physical Requirements

• Ability to push, pull, and lift up to 50 lbs regularly
• Prolonged standing and walking throughout the shift
• Ability to grip, reach, bend, kneel, twist, and squat as needed to perform nursing duties
