Job summary

Mercy Hospital South in St. Louis, MO is seeking a Registered Nurse for Med Surg 5E on the night shift. The RN will apply the nursing process, deliver direct patient care, and coordinate with multidisciplinary teams on a unit serving diverse medical diagnoses.

Ideal candidates hold an RN license in Missouri (or compact), with hospital experience preferred, BLS certified, and BSN encouraged. Eligible nurses may receive sign-on bonuses up to $10,000 for experienced and $5,000 for new grads.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited school of nursing with one of the following:
• Current Missouri RN license or compact licensure, in accordance with state regulations.
• Hospital nursing experience preferred depending on unit.

Position Details

Registered Nurse (RN) – Med Surg 5E

Location: Mercy Hospital South - 10010 Kennerly Rd, St. Louis, Missouri 63128

Schedule:Full-Time | 36 hours/week

Shift:Night Shift | 7:00PM-7:30AM

Sign-On Bonus

• Experienced Nurses:Up to$10,000

• New Graduate Nurses (less than 1 year of experience):Up to$5,000

About the Unit

Med Surg 5E provides care for a wide variety of adult medical patients.

Typical diagnoses include

• Small bowel obstructions

• Respiratory infections

• Cellulitis

• Diverticulitis

• Pneumonia

This unit offers strong opportunities to develop and strengthen core clinical skills including patient assessment, time management, and complex care coordination. Nurses on 5E gain experience with medical patients who require frequent monitoring, thoughtful care planning, and multidisciplinary teamwork.

Qualifications

Education:Graduate of an accredited school of nursing with one of the following:

• Associate Degree in Nursing

• Nursing Diploma

• Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN)

Licensure:Must hold and maintain a current Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of Missouri or possess compact licensure, in accordance with state board of nursing regulations.

Experience:Previous hospital experience is preferred and may be required depending on the unit.

Certifications

• Required:Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Heart Association, or completion within 30 days of hire.

Preferred Qualifications

• Education:BSN preferred

• Licensure:Additional state licensure or specialty certifications preferred

• Experience:Prior experience in specialty area or similar clinical setting

Physical Requirements

• Ability to push, pull, and lift up to 50 lbs regularly

• Prolonged standing and walking throughout the shift

• Ability to grip, reach, bend, kneel, twist, and squat as needed to perform nursing duties
