Job summary

LewisGale Medical Center is seeking an experienced RN Emergency Room Manager to ensure exceptional patient care and lead a collaborative team. You will oversee unit operations in the Director's absence and plan staffing according to workload while maintaining unit standards.

You will participate in hiring and staff development, ensure compliance with licensure and training requirements, and coordinate with other departments to optimize patient flow and outcomes.

Qualifications

• Diploma or Associate's Degree from a professional nursing program (required).
• BSN or enrollment in a BSN program (preferred).
• Current RN licensure in Virginia or valid multi-state compact with VA eligibility.
• AHA Basic Life Support (BLS) for Health Care Providers (required).
• Trauma Nursing Core Course (TNCC).
• ACLS Instructor must be obtained within 1 year of start date.
• BCLS Instructor must be obtained within 30 days of start date.
• PALS Instructor must be obtained within 1 year of start date.

Responsibilities

You will assume responsibility for the management of the unit in the absence of the Director.

As a member of our team, you will be accountable for planning for adequate resources based on workload and extraneous activities.

You will assist in the development/review/revision of unit standards.

As a manager, you will assist with interviewing, hiring and evaluating staff per policy and helps ensure licensure; competencies and mandatory in services for staff are current.

In collaboration with your healthcare team, you will facilitate in orientation of new employees, students and volunteers.

In order to provide a great patient experience, you will maintain open communication with other departments to coordinate efficient patient care

• Diploma or Associates Degree from a professional nursing program (required)
• BSN or current enrollment in a BSN program at an accredited school of Nursing (preferred)
• Current licensure as an RN in the state of Virginia or current multi-state compact RN license with eligibility to practice in VA is required.
• American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) Health Care Provider (required)
• Trauma Nursing Core Course
• Advanced Cardiac Life Spt, or ACLS Instructor must be obtained within 1 year of employment start date
• Basic Cardiac Life Support, or BCLS Instructor must be obtained within 30 days of employment start date
• PALS Pediatric Adv Life Supt, or PALS Instructor must be obtained within 1 year of employment start date
