Job summary

Maxim Healthcare is seeking qualified school nurses to provide medical treatment and health evaluations for students in a Rhode Island setting. Responsibilities include vision/hearing screenings, implementing IHPs, and medication administration as required by student plans.

Ideal candidates will be licensed Registered Nurses with CPR certification, strong communication skills, and experience in school health programs. Competitive benefits and weekly pay available.

Qualifications

• Must be licensed as a Registered Nurse in the state where employed.
• Graduate from an accredited nursing program; school nurse experience preferred.
• CPR certification and excellent communication skills required.

Responsibilities

• Provide professional medical treatment to students.
• Perform health evaluations and screen vision, hearing, and ortho.
• Develop and implement Individualized Health Plans (IHPs).
• Administer medications as required by IHPs and maintain records.
• Counsel students and parents on health-related matters and immunization programs.

Responsibilities

• Responsible for providing professional, medical treatment to students
• Responsible for early detection of student physical problems and for completing student health evaluations
• Coordinates vision, hearing, and orthopedic screening and health assessments
• Responsible for providing, or assisting teachers with providing disease prevention, nutrition and general health education
• Assists school personnel with the promotion of health education and immunization programs
• Designs and implements student Individualized Health Plans (IHPs) Provides, and/or oversees, student medication administration and medical treatments as required by student's IHP
• Maintains clinical records
• Provides emergency aid to students and school staff
• Consults with, conducts in-service training for, and serves as a resource person for school staff
• Participates in the implementation of health instruction/curriculum
• Counsels & assists students and parents in health-related adjustments

Requirements

• Graduate of an accredited school of nursing preferred
• Currently licensed as a Registered Nurse in specific state required
• Two years of successful experience as a school nurse preferred
• Valid CPR certification required
• Successful completion of training, testing, and/or additional requirements as stated by contract required
• Excellent Communication skills
• Proficiency in the English language required
• Current Health Certificate (per facility contract or state regulation) required
• Must meet all federal, state, local, and contract requirements
• Technological proficiency including mobile devices for documentation
• Must be at least 18 years of age
